Are sugar free sugar wafers really sugar wafers? I know there’s more important, heavier matters if you will, to think about, but right now I just wanna think about these delicious sugar free “sugar” wafers. You can order a Big Mac with no meat. Is it still a Big Mac? How much of a work do I have change to make it not plagiarism?

I considered rounding up posts concerning Parkland and all the debates happening for today’s Sunday Share. Then I thought that might be too depressing, too much for a Sunday. Then I though about rounding up the funny stuff to bring some laughs where there might not be many. I though that wouldn’t be fair to completely ignore the elephant in the room. So I bring you a mix of both. I’ll let you choose…

We’re almost 8 weeks into 2018. Have I learned anything yet this year? I have learned a few new Keto recipes for DW. I learned Crash doesn’t like spaghetti squash substituted for spaghetti. I learned to spell spaghetti so I don’t have to type “sketti” even though that’s what everyone calls it. I learned that if we don’t have chocolate chips, Bang would rather starve than have a chocolate chipless pancake. I also learned that just because you’re in 10th place that doesn’t mean you can’t still win it all!

I also learned that these are some good reads from this week…

One year ago today DW received “the call” that her father was being taken to the hospital by ambulance. From there he was transported to another, larger, hospital. On the way, DW asked him to send her eagles as a sign that he was with her.

When Bang learned to swim without a life jacket, an eagle flew overhead.
When DW was on her way to the hospital for CAT scan, she spotted an eagle.
When DW was feeling down and out, there was an eagle soaring.
When DW was missing him, Bang drew, colored, cut out, and taped an eagle to the wall.

As I’m sitting here watching the Superbowl, my brother-in-law’s favorite team, the Patriots are in it again. I know from past Superbowls that being down by 12 means nothing. I’d love to root for his team.

But I can’t get past that perhaps He is sending DW yet another eagle. I’m rooting for Philadelphia.

Sunday Share: Year 2, Week 3

Hard to believe we’re starting the third week of the new year. Hard to believe that I skipped my regular sharing for the first two weeks, too. I’m back on track now. How old does a new year have to be before it’s not longer a new year? I’ll say three weeks. After today it’ll be an old year. Been there, done that, though the year is far from over.

You still have 344 days to get your Christmas shopping done.

Sunday Share: Week 50

Week 50! Sweet baby Jesus, where did the first 49 weeks go?

They’re all behind us now. What a year it’s been, but I’ll save that for next week…

For now, just enjoy the season that is Christmas.

Sunday Share: Week 49

dad's work

Can you believe we’re just two weeks away from Christmas Eve? We’re nowhere near done our shopping. Are you? Every year I say I’m going to get it done early. Only once did it happen and that was 3 years ago. I work best under pressure. There’s no pressure like the pressure of the last minute. Or even the last 30 seconds. I’m just enjoying the season. The gifts will be bought in good time. While I enjoy all the gift giving as much as the next 6 (or 10) year old, we all know that’s not what Christmas is all about.

It’s all about the music!
My favorite Christmas song – When My Heart Finds Christmas by Harry Connick Jr.
DW’s new favorite – Hope Was Born This Night by The Sidewalk Prophets
DW’s  old favorite – When A Child Is Born by Boney M
DW’s classic favorite – O Holy Night
Crash’s – Let it Go by Pentatonix
Bang’s – Carol of the Bells by Pentatonix

What’s your favorite Christmas song?

While you’re listening, pick a few good reads from below…

Sunday Share: Week 47

Can you believe we’re just 3 weeks from Christmas Eve? It seems like just last week were were escorting a skeleton and an alien on a trick-or-treat excursion. Now here we are approaching Christmas. Our house is all decked out. The tree is up and lit. The caroling scene is shining. The Polar Express is chugging along. Check out the Instagram to see picture of it all. Also, the elves are back and The Daily Elf along with them. This is our 6th year with them. We’ve had Woody as long as we’ve had Bang!

I’ll leave my usual links for your reading enjoyment while I go see what they’re going to get into tomorrow…

Sunday Share: Week 47

We’re down to just 29 sleeps. Exactly 4 weeks from today will be Christmas Eve. The weather here is balmy (literally) 12 degrees Celsius (53F). It was like that yesterday, too. We spent yesterday day hanging Christmas lights and decorating outside. For me, it was an excellent excuse to hang out on the roof (see my Instagram for that photo op). While you’re there you might as well follow me because our Elves will be returning on Friday and you’re not going to want to miss the shenanigans they get into. I will be posting their daily antics in what I call “The Daily Elf”.

Now if you’ll excuse me, Bang is pretending to be Joseph and he needs a wise man.

Sunday Share: Week 44

We just fell back an hour on this side of the equator. It’ll be dark by 5:30 this evening. Blah. At least at 6:30 yogurt time (the cue to start getting ready for bed) I won’t have to hear, “BUT IT’S STILL LIGHT OUT!” Maybe I’ll try the it’s-dark-out-time-to-get-ready-for-bed trick at 5:30. I can’t complain too much though. They did sleep until 7am (would have been 8 am yesterday). So you either have an extra hour to read this week’s picks or you have extra daylight to read this week’s picks.

Either way, happy reading!
