Chapter 9

I could hear Brogan in living room. Finally, a minute to drink my coffee in peace. Then BANG! I heard him slam the truck on the floor, then silence. Then BANG! again this time followed by an angry cry. Melt down. Through his tears he told me his truck needed new batteries. The dumper wasn’t dumping. While I rummaged for fresh batteries, there was a knock at the door. Brogan rushed to answer it. He returned with a small box post marked from New York City. Much to my surprise it contained a jar full of batteries. I put four of them in the truck. Nothing happened. I tried four more and again nothing.

They were all dead.

This is a continuation of an experiment. It’s hard to believe this is the 9th week! Each week there is a 100 word short story photo prompt challenge posed by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. My challenge to myself is to connect these photos into one seamless story. Click the blue frog to read other stories inspired by this photo.

    • It is kind of fun 🙂 I only have control over where the story goes, not how it gets there. Some weeks are more of a challenge, but that’s the whole point of doing it! Hard to believe this was the 9th “chapter! Perhaps it’ll be a book when I’m done. A 50,000 word book at 100 words per chapter would be 500 chapters! LOL

  2. Interesting so far… I started from the beginning. Nice how you’ve tied each week’s prompt to the next. Sad story though. I hope its not too much from life experience, and I look forward to seeing its progress.

    • Thanks Kathy! I’m glad you read it from the beginning. While each story is a stand alone, it makes more sense when read in its entirety. It’s a bit sad, but I have a hunch it will get happier in due time. You can rest assured, this story is completely fictional. I am looking forward to finding out where it’s going, too!
