Chapter 2
This poor neglected house. We’ve been gone for 8 long years and this house has slept a dark and silent slumber long enough. Brogan clambers up the cracked concrete stairs. I know when I wake this house, I will also wake the memories that come with it.
The maple tree still stands strong. I pray the house is as strong as the tree.
A few vines threaten to take over. Otherwise, the house looks good. It certainly isn’t the manor we just fled. I’m okay with that. This will be cozy. Down to Earth. Familiar. The windows are all intact. The roof is still on top. My key is still on my key ring even after all these years.
He hates it here so I know I’m safe here.
This is a new experiment for me. Each week there is a 100 word short story photo prompt challenge posed by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. My challenge to myself is to connect these photos into one seamless story. Click the blue frog to read other stories inspired by this photo.
We have to wait for the next part?! Awww! Looking forward to it! 🙂

Oh, this is great. I love the twist that turns the reminiscing into horror.
