In response to Izzy-grabs-life Snack Attack.
I love to cook. More importantly, I love to cook comfort food. Stew and dumplings (though the two time I’ve made dumplings they closely resembled hockey pucks). Chicken casseroles. Slow cooker meals. But sometimes (maybe a lot of times) I get hungry between meals or I want something to eat while watching TV or a movie with DW. That’s when I reach for the snacks.
I could eat my weight in ice cream… the right kind, that is. Mint Chocolate is my favorite followed very closely by cookies and cream. At Christmas time there is peppermint ice cream with candy cane and chocolate chunks… Delicious. Combined with brownies hot out of the oven and you have my all time favorite. It’s making my mouth water just writing about it!
Pretty much anything salty or anything sweet. My favorite chips are kettle cooked and slightly salted. Miss Vickies are my go to chips. Unless I want dip, then it’s Ruffles with ridges. Peanut butter M&Ms are my favorite sweet snack.
It’s not always junk that I turn to. I discovered “energy bites“. No baking required. Crash loves them, too. DW and Bang won’t touch them. More for us! I was surprised that I liked them… flax seed, coconut, honey, oatmeal, chocolate chips, peanut butter and vanilla extract. I was iffy about the flax seed and coconut (which is odd because I LOVE German chocolate cake). But they’re delicious and easy to grab and go with.
I love making popcorn, too. The old fashioned way, on the oven in a giant skillet with some oil on the bottom. Though, due to the clean-up effort required afterward, I don’t make it very often. Like my chips, I like it lightly salted. DW like hers with butter, but I don’t so sometimes we need separate bowls.
Lastly, is this. The Sweettango apple. Crisp. Sweet (duh, it’s right in the name). Juicy. Red. I core it, slice it into eighths, put it in a bowl, and off I go. Lately, I often try to have an apple before indulging in the snacks of the junk variety. Unless it’s M&Ms. I could just eat those all day long.
What are your favorite sacks? Do you have a go to snack that you crave most often?
I’m glad you found a way to get your chocolate on with those energy bites. That sweetango apple looks mighty delicious! I need to get my hands on that kind. For popcorn, have you ever mixed it with your M&Ms? I never tried it, so I can’t encourage or warn you. Lol. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤
Here's an extra treat (do you agree with it 🙂 ):

2 out of 3 ain’t bad 🙂 Frugal and cautious but not argumentative. Hmm M&Ms and popcorn… salty and sweet. Might have to try that!

Correlational studies like that amuse me. If you do try the M&Ms and popcorn, let me know what you think. ^_^

For my results, I do agree with being a devoted, ambitious, slightly impulsive visionary. And I am energized by my own company as much as others’.

You are making think of thoughts I shouldn’t be thinking! Chocolate mint ice-cream is mine and our family’s favourite flavour too – although the kids love anything chocolates and ice-cream! Doritos with cheese dips make good snacks too. One of my favourite home-made snacks is the chicken nibblets, I have the recipe on my blog if you ever want to give it a go! I think I’ll go snack on some dates now – a healthier alternative. :p
